PROFESSOR VALERIE WEBSTER, PhD PgD(Ed) Dip PT MCSP FHEA
Professor Valerie Webster is Vice Dean School of Health at Glasgow Caledonian University, one of the largest providers of healthcare education in Scotland. She has extensive experience of learning, teaching and assessment in both practice and university settings. She has served on a number of local, national and professional body committees developing education not only for Physiotherapy but for a range of Allied Health and Nursing professions. Her keen interest in Interprofessional Education (IPE) led to the development, introduction and evaluation of IPE at Glasgow Caledonian University, involving Physiotherapy and eight other health disciplines. With colleagues she is leading a number of research projects aimed at developing and evaluating interprofessional education and working in university and practice settings. She was a key member of the Scottish Core Curriculum Project aimed at Nursing and AHP education. As physiotherapy programme lead she led a number of developments in undergraduate and masters education designed to enhance the physiotherapy curriculum. Prior to her current role, she led Learning, Teaching and Quality developments at both School and University level. She is a Quality Assurance Agency (QAA UK) reviewer for Health programmes. Professor Webster's research into patient access to services and physiotherapy practice has influenced both professional body and government policy.
