Lesley K Holdsworth PhD FCSP DPT

NHS Healthcare Improvement Scotland, NHS 24

Lesley is Head of Health Services Research & Effectiveness for Scotland but is currently leading a national portfolio of AHP activities to drive forward telehealth in Scotland on secondment. A 2011 Winston Churchill Fellow, Lesley recently undertook a five week travel scholarship to Australia to learn about their experience with telehealth developments first hand. Lesley trained as a physiotherapist 30 years ago and has maintained strong links with her original profession through her personal interest in patient access issues. Together with colleague Valerie Webster, they have undertaken national and international trials of direct access, presented all over the world, published widely and written a book that aims to help services establish systems of direct access. Most recently they have completed an international trial involving seven worldwide countries funded by IPPA. Full details can be found at www.selfreferralphysioinfo.com
