B.Sc. (Hons) Physiotherapy, Pg. Cert. (Sport Sciences), M.Sc. (Sports Injuries and Therapy); Graduated as a physiotherapist from the University of Malta in 1998 and subsequently completed a Master of Science in Sports Injuries and Therapy from the Manchester Metropolitan University in 2003.  Currently reading for a PhD at the Sheffield Hallam University (UK). Following 12 years working with the Department of Health (Malta) as a physiotherapist, the last two of which occupying the post of clinical specialist in oncology and palliative care, John moved into full-time teaching at the University of Malta on the undergraduate degree course in physiotherapy having previously occupied the same on a part-time basis since 2005. Main areas of teaching practice are Sports Injuries, Oncology and Palliative Care, Cardiac Rehabilitation and Clinical development in practice.

Presently  a member on the Education Matters Working Group of the ER-WCPT (2010 – 2012) and the Lifelong Learning Focus Group Leader in ENPHE since 2010. Since 2007 John is also the President of the Malta Association of Physiotherapists. His current research interests evolve around his PhD study that is in the area of Physiotherapy Education, exploring the influences of the Bologna Process on physiotherapy education across Europe.
